Alejandro Montalvo - UCI World Cup

UCI World Cup Il Ciocco, Italy

The mountain village of Il Ciocco in Tuscany, Italy, played host for the final round of the 2019 UCI World cup. The second round in Italy this year and the final opportunity to shine in the ultra short and competitive World cup series. Unfortunately the riders had to get the job done in front of hardly any spectators due to the remote location of the event in an area where enduro and motorcycle trials rule and bicycle trials is pretty much unknown.

Nico Vallee - UCI World Cup

Nicolas Vallée has been a strong contender this season in the 26" class, battling for the win in every major competition he has competed in so far.

The man-made sections in Il Ciocco mainly consisted of super high logs and rocks. The UCI European championship was organised in the same sections a week earlier with Nicolas Vallée finishing in second place and earning the silver medal.

Alejandro Montalvo was on fire during the 1/2 finals finishing in 1st place with an almost perfect score.

A very unlucky failure in section three relegated Montalvo to second place in the 20” final. He hit his front wheel ever so slightly horizontally against a section marker and it fell out. Sports can be cruel at times!

Although Adam Morewood easily qualified for the 1/2 20’ finals, his ankle injury is still hampering him massively.

Adam hit is ankle badly in section 1 in the semis and unfortunately had to abandon. He’s a warrior to even ride with the injury he has. Get well soon Adam!

Due to the ridiculous rule that the final round counts for double points in the UCI World cup overall (in a series with just three rounds!), Alejandro Montalvo had to settle for second in the final standings.

Nicolas Vallée came close to the win in the 26” class. He’ll get another shot at success in a few weeks for the most important event of the season, the UCI World championship in Chengdu, China.
