Description

The Glow Core jacket is Jitsie’s premium performance trials jacket for riders who want warmth, weather protection and reliability in colder conditions. Built from the same high-spec micro-stretch polyester as the Hopper Core jacket but in a heavier 300g/m² fabric, it delivers enhanced insulation while maintaining the freedom of movement trials riding demands.

With a 20.000mm waterproof rating, the fabric withstands sustained heavy rain before water penetrates. Its 8.000 g/m²/24h breathability allows heat and internal moisture to escape, keeping you comfortable rather than clammy. A DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish ensures water beads off the surface instead of soaking in, preventing saturation and maintaining comfort in wet or muddy conditions.

We chose these high specifications for one reason: cold and unstable weather should not limit a rider’s performance. The heavier 300g/m² fabric provides increased warmth and wind resistance compared to the Hopper Core jacket, making it the ideal jacket for fall/winter training, cold competition mornings or long days on the bike when temperature and wind chill play a bigger role than rain alone.

The Glow Core jacket uses a 3-layer membrane knit soft shell construction. This means the outer face fabric, waterproof membrane and inner lining are bonded together into one durable layer. The result is a warmer, more protective material that blocks wind effectively, resists water penetration and maintains stretch for unrestricted movement. Compared to lighter 2-layer fabrics, the 3-layer softshell feels sturdier, offers better insulation and performs more consistently in cold and variable weather conditions.

To maximise mobility and weather resistance, the Glow Core jacket uses Raglan-style sleeves. By extending diagonally from the collar to the underarm, they eliminate the traditional shoulder seam — one of the most exposed areas on a jacket. Fewer seams mean fewer weak points, better waterproofing and a smoother, more flexible fit for riding.

Ventilation is designed for real-world trials riding. Two large side vents, hidden neatly behind zipped openings, allow you to control airflow instantly. Open the zips when you need cooling and air moves freely through the jacket; keep them closed when the temperature drops to stay warm. This balance between breathable fabric and rider-controlled vents helps maintain comfort in changing weather and varying levels of effort.

A key feature of the Glow Core is its detachable hood. Designed for quick, hassle-free removal, it provides protection from wind and rain when walking sections, waiting in the queue or moving around the paddock. When it’s time to ride, simply detach it for a clean, distraction-free fit under the helmet.

All zippers are premium YKK, chosen for their smooth, dependable performance in wet, muddy and cold environments. Integrated minimalist pulls prevent flapping and keep the jacket streamlined during riding.

The Glow Core jacket includes multiple rider-focused pockets:

  • an upper left arm scorecard pocket, designed for digital scorecards that can be scanned through the fabric
  • a left chest scorecard pocket, positioned so the rider can hold the clutch with the left hand and access the card with the right — fast and ergonomic during events
  • two side pockets, slightly enlarged for tools, gloves or small essentials while preventing items from shifting during movement

For extra protection in harsh terrain, the jacket is finished with an extended rear drop tail, cut longer to keep mud and water from entering the top of your pants — a small detail that makes a big difference in wet or winter environments.

Size guide

WHAT DOES WATERPROOF MEAN?

Waterproofness describes how much water pressure a fabric can withstand before it starts to leak. This is measured using the hydrostatic head test, where a column of water is placed on top of the material. The height of that column — measured in millimetres — becomes the fabric’s waterproof rating.

A rating of 20.000mm waterproof means the material can resist the pressure of a 20-metre column of water before any moisture begins to penetrate. This is a high-end level of waterproof performance, offering strong protection in heavy, sustained rain, wet and muddy conditions, and situations where water is pushed against the fabric, such as kneeling or leaning on wet surfaces.

To put this into perspective:

  • 5.000mm: basic protection — suitable only for light rain.
  • 10.000mm: mid-range — good for moderate rain and shorter showers.
  • 20.000mm: high-performance waterproofing — ideal for harsh, prolonged wet conditions and pressure on the fabric.

For trials riding and most outdoor activities, 20.000mm is considered a premium waterproof rating, providing excellent all-round protection without compromising comfort or breathability.

WHAT DOES BREATHABILITY MEAN?

Breathability indicates how effectively a jacket can let moisture vapour (sweat) escape, helping you stay dry and comfortable. The Hopper Core jacket has a breathability rating of 8.000g/m²/24h, which is a very practical level for trials riding, where the effort comes in short bursts rather than constant high-intensity output.

In real use, 8.000g/m²/24h provides more than enough moisture management to prevent that clammy feeling inside the jacket — especially compared with lower-rating fabrics often found in waterproof outerwear.

It’s also important to remember that breathability isn’t just about the fabric. The Glow Core jacket includes strategic ventilation openings, allowing you to increase airflow quickly when you heat up. The combination of breathable material and rider-controlled vents ensures you remain comfortable across a wide range of temperatures and effort levels.

WHAT IS DWR COATING?

DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a surface treatment applied to the outer fabric of a garment. Its purpose is to make water bead up and roll off instead of soaking into the material.

A DWR finish does not make a product fully waterproof, but it significantly improves water resistance and helps the fabric stay lighter, drier and more comfortable in wet or muddy conditions. It also prevents the outer layer from becoming saturated, which helps maintain the garment’s breathability.

DO WATERPROOF FABRICS STAY WATERPROOF?

The waterproof membrane inside the fabric lasts a long time, but the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating on the outer layer wears off with use. When this happens, the fabric can “wet out” — it looks soaked, even though the membrane underneath is still waterproof. This mainly affects comfort and breathability, not the actual waterproof rating.

How to keep your jacket waterproof?

  • keep it clean: dirt and oils reduce both waterproofing and breathability
  • use proper detergent: wash with cleaners made for technical waterproof fabrics
  • re-activate the DWR: a gentle tumble dry or warm iron (if allowed) restores the coating
  • re-proof when needed: if water stops beading on the surface, apply a DWR spray/wash
  • avoid wash softeners: they damage the DWR and clog the membrane.

With basic care, the 20.000mm Glow Core jacket will stay highly waterproof and comfortable for many seasons.

WHAT ARE TAPED SEAMS?

Even when a fabric is fully waterproof, water can still enter through the tiny needle holes created when panels are stitched together. To stop this, high-quality jackets use taped seams — a waterproof tape applied to the inside of each seam using heat and pressure.

Because all seams on the Glow Core jacket are fully taped, every stitched panel is completely sealed. This prevents any water from seeping through the seams and ensures the jacket achieves its full 20.000mm waterproof performance, even in prolonged, heavy rain.

WHAT DOES 300g/m² FABRIC MEAN?

Fabric weight is measured in grams per square metre (g/m²) and indicates how heavy or dense the material is. A rating of 300g/m² means one square metre of the fabric weighs 300 grams, making it noticeably thicker and warmer than lightweight materials.

In practical terms:

  • below 150g/m²: very light, often thin and less durable
  • 150–200g/m²: lightweight but durable — ideal for active outerwear
  • 200g/m² and above: heavier, warmer and more robust

A 300g/m² fabric offers more insulation, a sturdier feel and better resistance to cold airflow. This makes it well-suited for cooler riding days, winter training and situations where you want extra warmth without sacrificing mobility. It remains comfortable to ride in but provides noticeably more protection against low temperatures than lighter jackets like the Hopper Core.

WHAT IS A 3-LAYER MEMBRANE KNIT SOFTSHELL?

A 3-layer membrane knit softshell combines three components into a single, high-performance fabric:

  1. outer fabric – the durable face material that resists abrasion, weather and general wear
  2. waterproof/breathable membrane – the central layer that provides the 20.000mm waterproof rating and controls moisture transfer
  3. inner lining – a soft, comfortable knit that adds insulation and helps move moisture away from the body

These three layers are laminated together, creating a fabric that behaves as one unified system. This offers several advantages over lighter 2-layer constructions:

  • better insulation: the bonded layers trap less cold air and keep warmth closer to the body
  • higher durability: no loose inner mesh or lining to move around or tear
  • improved wind protection: wind cannot pass between layers, making it far more resistant to cold airflow
  • stable waterproof performance: the membrane is protected on both sides, improving long-term reliability
  • more consistent comfort: fabric stretch remains even across the entire jacket, ideal for trials movements

In short, a 3-layer softshell feels sturdier, warmer and more protective — a major advantage for cold-weather riding where the Glow Core jacket is designed to excel.
