Jitsie Minitrial Series
The Jitsie Minitrial series is a dedicated trials competition where young riders can learn, progress and compete against their peers in a safe and supportive environment.
The series introduces young riders to motorcycle trials competition in a structured and positive environment. Across multiple events, riders develop genuine motorcycle control skills while navigating sections built from natural terrain such as slopes, turns and small obstacles.
Beyond riding skills, the series promotes respect for rules and safety, sportsmanship and confidence through positive competition experiences.
The focus is simple: progression, enjoyment and long-term rider development.

How scoring works
The Jitsie Minitrial series uses the traditional motorcycle trials scoring system, where riders aim to complete each section with as few penalties as possible.
Points are given per section as follows:
0 points – Perfect ride!
1 point – One foot on the ground
2 points – Two foot dabs
3 points – Three or more dabs
A score of 5 points (failure) is given when a rider falls, exits the section boundaries or rides through a gate belonging to another category.
The rider with the lowest total score wins.
Series ranking
The Jitsie Minitrial series consists of multiple events held throughout the season.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR CATEGORY
Riders should choose the category that best matches their current riding level and experience. If you are unsure, don’t worry — categories can still be changed on the day of the event after walking the sections.
⚫ MINIMASTER
Difficulty: Expert | Arrows: Black
The MiniMaster category is the highest level in the Jitsie Minitrial series and is aimed at the strongest young riders competing for the MiniMaster title.
Riders in this category are highly confident on the bike, technically skilled and comfortable with advanced techniques. Larger steps, precise wheel placement and hopping the bike are all part of this level.
🟠 MINITRIAL 1
Difficulty: Hard | Arrows: Orange
Minitrial 1 is designed for riders with a strong base level and good riding experience. These riders are comfortable balancing, turning tightly and riding technical terrain. Smaller steps and basic hopping techniques should already feel natural.
🟣 MINITRIAL 2
Difficulty: Medium | Arrows: Purple
Minitrial 2 is ideal for developing riders who already have a solid foundation in trials riding. Good balance and bike control are important at this level. Riders should feel comfortable with tighter turns, basic obstacles and small steps.
🟢 MINITRIAL 3
Difficulty: Easy | Arrows: Green
Minitrial 3 is our entry-level category and is perfect for newer or less experienced riders. The sections focus on developing the fundamentals of trials riding such as balance, body position, turning and looking ahead. Major obstacles are avoided to keep the experience fun, safe and encouraging.
THE ROLE OF THE COACH
One important aspect of the Jitsie Minitrial series is the role of the coach inside the sections. Parents are not allowed to provide assistance to riders inside the sections. Instead, appointed coaches will support riders where needed and help create a safe, positive and structured environment throughout the event.
Why is this important?
Because learning trials is not only about riding the motorcycle — it is also about learning to think independently. Young riders must learn how to choose their own lines, understand and analyse sections, adapt to situations and learn from mistakes. This development process is used in many sports and helps build confident and complete athletes in the long term. Parents still play a hugely important role through encouragement, support and motivation throughout the event.
We received a very good question from a parent:
“My son is only 5.5 years old — will I really not be allowed to follow him inside the sections?”
The idea behind the Jitsie Minitrial series is to create a real competition environment. In order to achieve that, we need clear and consistent scoring rules for all riders. In trials competition, outside assistance inside the sections is not allowed.
We are working with guidance from the FFM Minitrial series in France which, under the leadership of Alexandre Ceris, has established a very high-quality youth competition that is already producing great young talent. We are applying many of the best practices from that series within the Jitsie Minitrial project.
So what does this mean for your child?
Inside the sections, riders will have the guidance of one of our appointed coaches. Their role is to help, guide, provide information about the sections and support the young riders throughout the event.
However, we will never compromise on safety.
Kids need to feel safe and parents should also be able to enjoy the event together with their children. Parents will therefore still be able to follow their child around the trial — simply not inside the sections themselves. Of course, there may always be situations where a parent and coach together feel it is better for the parent to stand in a certain place to help ensure the rider’s safety.
